Patty, cake

Two items of business:

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I hope you each get kissed today whether or not you're Irish. I didn't wear any green today but have yet to be pinched, and then I ate curry for lunch. So that I'm not missing out entirely on the spirit of the day, here's is an ode to the best friend a person could ever have in a root vegetable: the humble potato. I love you, spuds!

Also, I want to wish my dear Uncle Paddy a very happy birthday. Is my own blood Patrick a Saint? Close enough for me.

Unc, this song's for you—my earliest clear memory of you is of you trying to teach me this crazy song out on our front porch. I still have the young handsome autographed photo you gave to me when I was a tiny girl. I guess I had a little uncle-crush on you back then, and I was so proud the to be the crabapple of your bachelor's eye. I still think you're great. I love you!

xo,
Pogo

You know I was just thinking about scrubbing up a bunch of spuds and trying green mashed potatoes--which I haven't tried before. But then I remembered, I'm out of green food coloring.

Luck O' The Irish to you!

I think, I love them most. Kartoffeln are a German national staple. We make divine pasta with mashed up potatoes. Schupfnudeln.

Whenever I hear "Kiss me, I'm Irish," I think of a postcard a friend sent me with alternate phrases such as "Rolf me, I'm Swedish." Sorry, but that cracks me up every time.

I didn't wear green yesterday either and didn't get pinched despite Soren's many threats. I didn't realize that I should have been getting kisses though; I'll have to see if I can cash in on those late.:)

I have always loved that potato song. I'm happy to see a movie made of it!

At first, I thought you were implying that eating curry was Irish, or sumping, hahaha.

Hey, ladies. You are the full-color comics section in the newspaper of life. I love you!

(That's even better than the coupons insert.)

My kids were just singing this song today! Dear Geo -- I hope you sing both of these songs at the top of your lungs to rouse Rob out of bed in the morn'.
