Baby, baby, baby!

Lucky me, today was babies-on-parade day at our house. The title of this post should really be something more descriptive, like, "Smoodgey smidgens." Some friends from Salt Lake who are the proud new ma and pa of twin girls, stopped in for a visit on their way to two baptisms in two different cities this afternoon. One of the girls stayed asleep most of the time they were here, but the other half of the set, the one who had lots to say and was a champion eater, belcher, and arm sucker, hung out with me. Very fun. And it was great to see that our friends are successfully negotiating such a big life transition. What a change to have come to you in your late 30s! But they're already good parents. And I think we're already on call as babysitters when vacation time comes for them.

Something else that was sweet about that visit (besides sharing some warm homemade bread a la Rob)—E. told Rob that we're family to him.

An hour later, I went with Spiderman's mom to Sam's Club to help her buy lotsa diapers on the cheap. We made a couple other shopping stops along the way, and it was my (well-defended) job to hold my adopted gran'baby, Spidey's little sister. (I always have to remind myself that I couldn't actually be more than her aunt, but either way I claim her.) Here she is, folks, and ain't she sweet?

Hey, my Gram was only 40 when I was born, and SHE'S still my favorite. I know you don't want to hear that, and you don't want anyone calling you Grammy Gee (Auntie is better), but I was just sayin'...

What a gorgeous baby. Yummy.

Yeah, yeah, I know. I could have been somebody's grammy at, what, 28? earlier? But I'd have to have been identifiable as girl much sooner than I was to have been Spidey's mama's mama. That's what I mean.

And anyway, I am what I am. No shame in living past your 30s. In fact, I'd like to keep going!
