Rain, rain, go away

This is incredibly odd. Apparently I am the only person living in this house who can successfully bathe without making it rain in the basement. Rob began working on the plumbing tonight, knocking out a wall in the process, because we are having such serious flashflood issues. When Rob showers? Cloudburst. When The Ancestor showers? Downpour. When I turn on the water? No problem. Rob stepped into the bathroom and started up the water for a shower this evening and the monsoon started. I told him about it and he turned off the water and said to me, "Okay, then, you turn it on." So I did. Not a drop in the basement. "What did you do?" he asked me. "I don't know!" I have the touch, but why? This is a great mystery.

How fitting. :)

You think? I'm puzzled.

If I could just get The Ancestor to let me turn on the water for her shower, we'd get a chance to dry out!

THAT is spooky. Maybe it's a message from above (now I don't know what KIND of message).

Some people are blessed with great singing voices. Some get artistic ability, or are good at learning languages. Some people are mechanically-minded. Me? I can turn on a mean shower.

You should just position yourself in the bathroom every morning. Maybe bring a chair while you wait. I hope you never have a lot of people stay the weekend, or you might never leave the bathroom.

We had the same problem--water poured downstairs when Andy showered, but not me. We figured it was where we stood in the tub; he likes the water on the back of his neck, me on the back of my head. The leak was not around the drain hole, but around the hot-and-cold nozzle; he stands closer to it so it drips down the end of the shower when he showers. I stand farther away from it, so it drains down the drain for me. Took us awhile to figure that out.

ps: I'm catching up on missed posts--love the daily photos, glad Gram is doing better.

cj: Sort of like being a hall monitor, only a lot more intimate.

joh: I'm really amazed that you two sleuthed out that much shower knowledge. We're still at square one. I mean, Rob still stood in all his favorite places and showered how he likes to shower, but I don't think he readjusted my magical faucet spots once till he was all done, just so he wouldn't start the downstairs waters. I don't get it.

That IS very odd. It seems the shower has preferences. I hope you get it all figured out so you can have a dry basement!
